We are extremely excited to be premiering our first edition of our new exhibition format to benefit and bring attention to young talented curators as part of The Young Curator Program 2020. A competition was publish last winter calling for curators around the world to send in their version of a dream exhibition at the gallery showing young emerging artists. Over 30 proposals were submitted and a selection committee consisting of Irene Campolmi, independent curator, Marianne Torp, senior curator at SMK, Sara Lysgaard, collector of young contemporary art and myself Sophus Gether, director of Gether Contemporary finally selected Katia Porro with her proposal ‘Something Blue’ with Océane Bruel and Maxime Fragnon to be the winners.

The program has been thought up to try and especially give something back to young curators, a group in the art world who are often overlooked in the initial stages of establishing their career. This lack of support and focus is what Young Curators Program seeks to remedy by offering a prime slot in the gallery’s exhibition cycle for the winner to freely express their personal vision for an exhibition and to present fresh and extremely talented artists in.

It’s the aim for the program to give something back. To give room for an independent voice in an established setting to fully exercise and express their talent. To make way in the art world is tough going. We want to give a break to all the extremely talented people out there who’s trying to get in.
