Abandoned Systems presents a new series of paintings by Tuukka Tammisaari (1984, Finland). This solo exhibition is his third with the gallery. The works are partly created in 2021 during a longer stay in Bamberg, Germany at Villa Concordia which is part of an International Artist in Residence Programme.

The intuitive visual language in the canvases and works on paper balance between abstraction and figuration. Always starting from a source of inspiration such as nature, psychology, (art) history and popular culture, Tammisaari captures his own impressions of shapes, colors, stories and images in his typically fresh and tactile brushstrokes. The titles are often guidelines for what ideas lie behind the different layers of paint and overlapping geometrical surfaces and motifs. There is always a playful and poetic dynamic in the way he surprisingly combines his palette of sometimes earthly, often lively color hues.
