In the exhibition Boulevard des immobiles, the two artists Elias Njima and Ayesha Ghaoul explore the dichotomy and comparisons in their works. Ayesha´s drawings are intuitive and expressive based on personal experiences and feelings. Elias’ works are introspective, reflective, and packed with symbolic motifs and cultural-historical references.
The title Boulevard des immobiles stages the encounter between the artists’ works. It invites the viewer to imagine walking down a boulevard and stopping and perhaps sitting on a bench, watching the world unfold amid the noise and chaos of the city.
On a bench, people meet, and take a rest and it becomes a space for reflection, feelings, and thoughts of both positive and dark nature.
The bench performs as a symbolic and concrete gathering point in the exhibition. The viewer will encounter benches physically in the exhibition, unique objects created by the artists themselves.
