Galleri Weinberger Schandorff is proud to present the solo exhibition Sønderkysset by the Swedish artist Mats Bergquist. The exhibition focuses on new monochrome art works inspired by the Swedish author and poet Gunnar Ekelöf’s poem Ayíasma. A poem which describes a destructive force of kisses and their effect of shattering. Bergquist’s exhibited works are in some way repeatedly sønderkysset.
These “shattered” monochrome artworks are a mix of older icon techniques and a modern and minimalistic approach. Bergquist uses pear wood as basic material combined with monochrome elements of encaustic, chalk, and silver leaves. This creates a distinct and calm sense of profound silence and harmony.
