On Crying part three is the third work in a series investigating the act of crying. The previous two works explored crying through performance and writing, focusing on its iteration in public spaces; looking at how people encounter crying, and further considering its use as institutional critique. This new sound work made for ilyd frames crying as only sound, allowing it to function as an alienated emotion that embodies the listener, and furthermore questioning the ways we may, or may not, be capable of empathising and normalising extreme emotion.

Dyveke Bredsdorff (b.1989) is an artist and writer based in London, and currently completing a MFA in Fine Art Media at The Slade School of Fine Art. She is part of the curator-collective behind ilyd.
